For most of the offseason and preseason, the news that mostly came out of Washington was about who the starting QB was going to be. On September 11, 2011, Rex Grossman showed the Redskins fans exactly why he won the position. He took some hits from the Giants defense early and often, but he remained poised and cool and proceeded to light up the Giants for 305 yards on 21 of 34 passing, and 2 TD passes to add onto that. With the run game being stopped, he was needed to step up and take control if the Redskins wanted to win, and he was the x-factor to end the streak of 6 consecutive losses to the Giants. The game was tied 14-14 at halftime, but it was the Redskins, led by Rex Grossman and a stiff defense that put up 14 second half points to claim a 28-14 win against their division rivals, the Giants.
